Terrebonne is a city in Quebec, the county seat of the Les Moulins Regional County Municipality (MRC), in the Lanaudière region. It is part of Montreal's northern suburbs. Between 1986 and 2024, its population increased from 24,864 to 125,279, largely due to a merger with the towns of Lachenaie and La Plaine in 2001. In 2026, Terrebonne had a population of approximately 126,000. In 2014, Terrebonne was recognized as the tenth largest city in Quebec by population.
The Rivière des Mille Îles, which flows eastward, forms the southern boundary of the municipality until its confluence with the Rivière des Prairies in the southeast. The Mascouche River flows through the center of the municipality from west to east and then through the southeast from north to south until its confluence with the Rivière des Mille Îles. The Saint-Pierre River flows through the north of the municipality from west to east.
